Battletech is a boardgame produced by fanpro Huge piloted robots roam the planets. The known universe is controlled by the Great Houses, split into cultural and ideological divides.

By the mid 35th Century humanity is fighting against the  descendants of the Star League Defence Force which had abandoned their homeland in response to numerous civil wars. After sending a force back to the Inner Sphere, the Clans, as the SDLF developed into, found the Great Houses in disarray and decided that the time was right to return to their birthplace.

 

The units that club members have (so far!) amassed include the 10th Lyran Guards, Davion Heavy Guards, 4th Deiron Regulars, Word of Blake, 10th Ghost, and numerous mercenary units.

Made popular via the computer games based on the Battletech universe, the amount of background information that this particular campaign setting is increasing, novels, sourcebooks, even a cartoon series.
